My Setting

I live in a large semi-detached house on a quiet road in Castle Bromwich, very near to Castle Bromwich Infants School, and bus stops.  The mindees have the use of 3 separate reception rooms and dedicated playroom.  I have a large kitchen which the children love to bake cakes, biscuits, pizza etc, and a  downstairs toilet via the utility room.  This means that no children ever have to go upstairs to use the bathroom.  And children that require a sleep during the day may do so in the connecting reception room. This ensures that they are never more than a few feet from me. The garden is off the playroom and contains trampolines, bouncy castle and paddling pool (weather permitting,) playhouse, sandpit, sit 'n'rides, rockers, 3 slides, outdoor play equipment and 5 space hoppers.

I also have a wide range of fun and educational toys suitable from birth to 8 years, including leap pad learning books, V tech computer,  x box, puzzles, dressing up books, games, cars/garage, action figures, dinosaurs, building blocks etc.

I provide a wide range of arts and crafts activities for all children, and this activity always goes down well with the children and the parents who receive a wide range of crafts, pictures, modeling clay and plaster cast items.

I offer a warm safe caring and homely environment in which children feel valued, stimulated to learn and have fun. All of the children in my setting have a birthday party with bubble machine, dancing, games and singing quizzes and bingo plus cake and gift!! We also have halloween parties (go trick or treating to my local neighbours who expect us every year), xmas and new year parties.

Every month I provide a newsletter for parents to keep everyone up to date on our new topics, as we do  2 per month following on from the interests  of all the minded children.  Some of our recent topics include "Old McDonald",  "Under the sea", and "Our 5 senses".

Each child has their own learning journey folder, which is started with "All about me" at the start of attendance, and the folder also contains personalised reward charts, photos of the children taking part in activities,  evidence of the  EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE progress for each child, and samples of work.  This folder is sent home every month for parents to have a look out, and take out any of the pictures their child has made during that time.   I have found that the children become very proud of their folders, and enjoy decorating them with stickers and  adding in their new work, and also the parents love to take the folders home to show other family members, who love to see the progress and achievements of each child.

My home is a non smoking and no pets environment.
